If you're among the many people in Austin, TX seeking to enhance the appearance of your eyebrows, you're not alone. Given that your eyebrows play a crucial role in framing your face, achieving the ideal look is paramount.
Contemplating between microblading and powdered brows to add fullness to your brows?
Both options offer lasting solutions for sparse brows, yet each has its unique characteristics. Here's a breakdown of the disparities between microblading and powdered brows.
If you look in the mirror, you might notice your eyebrows lack the fullness they once had - no matter your age! The diminished volume of eyebrow hair is a common concern for both women and men. Ironically, many people spend a lot of time plucking, waxing, or threading their eyebrows in their youth, only to find them sparse as they age.
Various factors contribute to eyebrow hair loss, including hormonal changes, genetic predispositions, years of constant plucking, nutritional deficiencies, and the natural aging process affecting hair follicles. While cosmetic solutions like eyebrow gel, pencil, or powder can camouflage the issue, they may not always provide a seamless, natural look.
Additionally, applying these products can be time-consuming and challenging to achieve symmetrical results. Fortunately, June's Brow Co in Austin, TX, led by Abby June Miller, offers a permanent solution to this common beauty dilemma.
Microblading, a technique garnering increasing popularity in Austin, addresses thin eyebrows effectively. This semi-permanent method utilizes a hand tool with a fine needle to simulate eyebrow hairs, creating the illusion of fuller brows.
During a microblading session, clients first determine the desired look, whether it's subtle enhancement or maximum fullness. Factors like hair color, existing eyebrows, and skin tone are considered to select the most suitable pigment.
The actual microblading involves strokes resembling natural eyebrow hairs. While the procedure is somewhat invasive, it doesn't deeply penetrate the skin; instead, it deposits semi-permanent pigment through small scratches. Typically lasting between an hour or two, the session concludes with the application of a soothing cream to aid in the healing process.
Following microblading, clients may experience temporary redness, discomfort, or minor scabbing as the skin heals. The longevity of microblading varies depending on factors like aftercare, skin type, facial products used, sun exposure, and lifestyle. Color boost sessions are recommended annually, with those with oily skin requiring more frequent maintenance.
Powdered brows, also known as ombre brows or microshading, offer an alternative approach to achieving fuller eyebrows. This technique, preferred by many for its soft and natural appearance, involves depositing pigment onto the skin using a needle to create dashes and dots.
Unlike microblading, which utilizes strokes to mimic individual hairs, powdered brows provide longer-lasting results due to the pigment's deposition. The ombre brows method employs shading to create dimension and density gradually, resulting in a defined yet gentle look.
When faced with the choice between microblading and powdered brows, my ATX clients often opt for the latter for its versatility and less invasive nature. Powdered brows allow for customization of brow density and shade, catering to personal preferences without significant discomfort.
Powder brows are recommended for those with oily or mature skin types, as they tend to hold pigment better and cause less discomfort compared to microblading. Touch-up sessions are advised, with results lasting between two to three years, offering a longer-lasting solution to daily makeup routines.
Whether you choose microblading or powdered brows at June's Brow Co in Austin, TX, rest assured you'll achieve fuller, natural-looking eyebrows tailored to your preferences and lifestyle.

I don't even know where to start. I am 58 years old and have slowly been losing my eyebrows. I am not a big makeup user as I never had anyone to show me what to do. I have never been very confident about my looks and losing my eyebrows certainly did not help. Both of my daughters have had their brows done by Abby and they look absolutely gorgeous! They encouraged me to give it a try. Well, I am sooo happy I listened to them!! I was very nervous going into this and Abby made me feel so comfortable and put me at ease. She is so passionate about what she does as well as a perfectionist. You will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Thank you Abby for making me feel better about myself. You are a true artist!! The world is a better place because of people like you!!!

Abby is such an amazing brow artist!! She was voted best in Austin and it's well deserved. Throughout the whole process of getting powder brows, she is reassuring and she makes sure to explain everything in detail. I was never nervous about the outcome and my eyebrows came out absolutely beautiful. She is always willing to answer questions and she explains after care thoroughly to make sure your brows will turn out looking the best that they can and that they will last for a long time. Being a redhead with white-blonde eyebrows, I have had to put on eyebrow makeup everyday for years. I could cry waking up every morning and seeing the most natural looking rows without having to touch any products. I was hesitant about getting powder brows for years and I just have to say if you're still on the fence, don't walk, RUN to June's Brow Co.

I booked a powder brow appointment for my mom, who backed out, so I decided to just go for it and let Abby do MY brows instead. Best. Decision. Ever.
I already had a good shape and pretty dark brows, but I was stunned what a difference it made thanks to her brilliant mapping for shape and perfect color matching. I have received nothing but compliments, and no one ever believes me when I tell them that my brows are literally tattooed on my face. And on that note, if you can handle the discomfort of a brow wax, powder brows with Abby will be a breeze for you, so don't worry about pain. You will not regret doing this for yourself. The brows are the frame of the face, and Abby just makes the nicest frames in town. Plus she is just an awesome person with super great energy, so it's a win/win. Now go book your appointment!!

Abby's attention to detail, precision, and comfortable atmosphere went far beyond my expectations. I've been wanting to get powder brows for a long time and am so grateful for finally pulling the trigger and getting on her (worthily) busy schedule.
After researching all the brow artists in the Austin area, Abby proved I made the right choice, as no one else slightly compares to her beautiful and (to me, most important) natural looking brows.
Coming up on week two, I smile every morning when I wake up and never felt more comfortable and confident in my own skin!

A powder brow can last up to 2 years!
Some of the colors will go on with an orange or red tone because the client has cool undertones. When the color goes on this way it will neutralize in the skin to the proper color within one day. If I were to put on a color that didn’t have these tones in it, they would turn grey or blue.
I choose the color by looking at your undertones, skin tone and natural brow color.
I map your brows using all your facial features and bone structure to assure your brows fit for your face perfectly. I also measure all the points I make between the head, arch and tail to assure perfect symmetry. I try to stick to your natural hair line as much as possible to avoid going any thicker than need be. I will also not move forward without your 100% yes.
A powder brow is accomplished using a PMU machine, similar to a tattoo machine. There are no strokes and is a soft makeup look. This look can still appear very natural and can also been done in an ombre affect. This brow is best for those with oily skin, those who sweat often or those who are looking for a longer lasting brow! This is personally my favorite and most recommended brow. You can have a sharp makeup look or a very soft powder look.
If you aren’t pregnant, have an auto immune disorder, breast feeding, on acutane, been on chemo therapy in the last 6 months or have eczema… then yes. There is a lot of criteria that needs to be met before being a proper candidate for microblading.
A full appointment typically takes between 2-2.5 hours.
A touchup is typically 1.5 hours.
There is some slight discomfort at the beginning of the session, similar to getting threaded or plucking your brows! After the skin is open I apply a numbing agent that takes 2 minutes to kick in and then you do not feel any pain for the remainder of the appointment.
